High Holy Day Appeal 5782

Dear Beth Am Family,

I hope this letter finds you and your families in good health. As we approach the New Year of 5782, hopefully soon we will be able to crawl out of the cocoons of the past 18 months and begin to enjoy a semblance of normalcy. 5781 was a trying year for many of us and we look forward to a new beginning in 5782. We’ve had to roll with the punches and will continue to do so in a constantly evolving world.

After holding High Holy Day services completely online last year, we will get to see many of you in person this year as we plan to have live services in the Molish Sanctuary. And while last year was predominantly pre-recorded, prayer sessions will be live this season. We will continue to use the Livestream for those of you who do not yet feel comfortable in the sanctuary setting. In the past year, we have made a significant investment to improve the technology in our building to bring services live to your home in a high-quality fashion.

For the safety and well-being of all members of our Beth Am family, we will be requiring that all those eligible provide proof of vaccination to attend in-person services for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Masks will continue to be required for all those over 2 years of age. Proof of vaccination can be emailed in advance to Stacey Mardt in the office at smardt@oyrtbetham.org or presented at the door when you check in. We thank you in advance for your cooperation in ensuring the health of our entire community.

This year’s High Holy Day appeal letter may look a little different. We will not be using the pledge cards as we have in the past. At the bottom of this page, you will see a tear-off to indicate your pledge to support Old York Road Temple – Beth Am this year. The reason for this change is two-fold. One, to reduce our carbon footprint by using less paper, and two, to reduce the expense of sending this appeal. I hope you can see the sense of both changes. Like last year, in addition to payment by (check, or credit card over the phone), pledges can also be sent in via Venmo @Old York Road Temple – Beth Am Abington, PA or through the ShulCloud platform. We hope this provides a route that is convenient for everyone.

5782 also marks the beginning of our 75th year!

Keep an eye out for events over the course of the year to celebrate this momentous occasion.

We are grateful for the support you have given over the years and therefore, I hope that you will continue to support Old York Road Temple – Beth Am with your generous donations. Old York Road Temple – Beth Am is your home away from home and I consider you all my extended family. Your pledges will help us to be able to continue our sacred work for the Beth Am community and continue to have a place for you to call Beth Am, House of the People.

Thank you and Shanah Tovah!
