There is a lot of buzz around Beth Am lately about an exciting new project called the Tekiah Project. Here is what it’s all about.

As Rabbi Sernovitz said in his Yom Kippur sermon, this model is community organizing from the grassroots:  gathering and meeting people where they are at, finding common ground with our neighbors, and identifying problems, that, with our combined strength, are solvable.

The Tekiah Project began with “home conversations” conducted by our trained Tekiah Project core team, consisting of dedicated members of our congregation.  During these home conversations two questions were asked and discussed:  What are the hopes and dreams for you and your family? What upsets you most about the world in which we live?  The resulting conversations became the basis for the creation of the Beth Am Task Forces to identify three major categories of concern for Beth Am congregants.

The three Task Forces have been formed. You can choose which task force to join and begin to make a difference in our community paving the way to finding solutions which plague our society. Each task force will decide what they will need to do to address their issue. Eventually, we will involve the interfaith community in our efforts. We are stronger together than we are apart!
